Main features of Spellcaster
-
A comprehensive, phonetic-based computer spelling program, developed in New Zealand. Voices used throughout the program are all our own!
-
Presented by Herbs, a friendly, enthusiastic and ever patient kiwi.
-
50 word lists and over 2000 words to master. Each word list relates to a different phonetic rule.
-
Every word within each word list has a corresponding word shape outline, and can be heard within the context of a sentence.
-
A 'Sound Library' is easily accessed for reference to all phonetic sounds of both the individual letters, and blends of letters within words.
-
Progression through Spellcaster requires mastery at each stage before access to the next level is unlocked.
-
Spellcaster keeps a running record of individual user progress. This feature is great for self-monitoring, and is also invaluable within the classroom setting, where student achievement can be quickly measured.
-
Students restart Spellcaster where they last logged off.
-
Any incorrect spelling attempts are stored; they reappear (correctly spelt) in the Card Memory game. They only disappear when the user has correctly spelt them for the next five sessions of logging on to Spellcaster.
-
Spellcaster is goal orientated, and provides immediate user feedback.
-
New interactive spelling games ensure that learning is both challenging and fun.
-
Any number of children can use Spellcaster. This makes it ideal for both home and classroom use.
-
Spellcaster is a stand-alone program that requires no extra supervision or teacher input.
